Are you cheating your ACL return-to-sport testing? Are you cheating your ACL return-to-sport testing?
🚨
Distance isn’t everything. When performing the single-leg broad jump, hitting the same mark on both sides is great, but how you land matters more.
we see this all the time: athletes reach the required distance, but their trunk shifts out to the side or their knee collapses inward (valgus collapse). This puts you right back at risk for another ACL injury.
When testing your jump, focus on these critical movement mechanics:
Trunk Position: Make sure your trunk remains neutral and doesn’t lean out to the side.
Hip Stability: Ensure your hips aren’t dropping when you land.
Knee Alignment: Keep your knee slightly forward to properly load the quads, rather than landing with a straight knee and shifting your hips back.
Avoid Inward Collapse: Keep the knee stable and tracking between your second and third toe.
Don’t just chase the distance—prioritize the quality of your movement to safely get back on the court.

One of the thing that often gets overlooked during Achilles tendon rehab is getting the top range calf strength.
A lot of times we just focus on number of reps, but we also need to look at the quality and make sure we go all the way to the top!

🚨 AJ goes down with an ankle sprain early in the s 🚨 AJ goes down with an ankle sprain early in the season! After landing awkwardly on a jump shot, he was able to get up with a little assistance from his teammates and walk off on his own—a hugely positive sign.
.
When we analyze ankle sprains, we are usually looking at three main types: high, lateral, and medial. In this case, it looks like a classic lateral ankle sprain, which is the most common and involves stretching or micro-tearing of the ligaments on the outside of the ankle.
.
Depending on the severity, these injuries are classified from a Grade 1 (minor stretching and small tears) to a Grade 3 (a complete rupture).
Even if it’s a minor tweak, you absolutely cannot rush this rehab process early in the season. Restoring full mobility and foundational stability is the priority before he touches the hardwood again.
Drop your predictions below—how many games do you think he’ll sit out before making his return? 👇🏀

Mastering Horizontal Plyometrics for ACL Rehab 🚀 . Mastering Horizontal Plyometrics for ACL Rehab 🚀
.
While vertical jumps are common in ACL reconstruction recovery, training your body to translate force forward is critical for a safe return to sport. Are you incorporating horizontal plyometrics into your routine?
Here is a step-by-step progression to build explosive, controlled power:
Level 1: Forward Moving Pogos
Focus on double-leg quick ground reaction time. Stay light on your feet, move forward, and never let your heels collapse down.
Level 2: Hurdle Jump with a Stick
Jump over a hurdle, absorb the landing, and stick it. Focus on one rep at a time to master force generation and impact absorption.
Level 3: Continuous Hurdle Hops
Remove the pause and jump continuously through the hurdles. This trains your body to absorb impact and immediately generate power with a slightly longer ground contact time.
 Level 4: Band-Resisted Broad Jump
Using a strength band anchored behind you, attack the ground and explode as far forward as possible. Perform 4 to 6 reps for 3 sets to build maximum power while maintaining a controlled landing.
Level 5: Depth Drop to Broad Jump
Step off a box, absorb the downward impact, and immediately explode forward into a broad jump.
The ultimate goal isn’t just power—it is being explosive while staying entirely in control of the movement.
