Stretch Shortening Cycle 🏀 Main goal is to redu Stretch Shortening Cycle
🏀
Main goal is to reduce ⬇️ground contact times and utilization of low intensity fast plyometrics exercises.
During the fast plyometric exercises the leg should act like a stiff spring and rebound with minimum delay off the ground on contact.
🏀
Coaches should encourage athletes to stay on the balls of their feet at all times and pre-activate the lower leg muscles before landing to enable a "stiff-spring" response

⁉️Did you strain your hamstring⁉️
.
Hamstring strains are surprisingly common while playing basketball and they usually occur when you are trying to excessive reach out and over stretch the hamstrings.
.
When you strain your hamstrings one of the big factors we need to focus on eccentric strengthening of the hamstring especially early on since studies have show that athletes re strain their hamstring the first 1-2 weeks back to sport from their injury.
.
Here are a couple of strengthening exercises we like our athletes to do in the middle phase of rehab.

When you strain your hamstrings one of the things we tell people not to do is stretch the hamstring.
We also encourage athletes to decrease the step length when walking because it may overstretch the hamstring and cause pain/delay healing.

Here are a couple isometric exercises we recommend in the early stages of rehab.

Plyometrics in All Planes of Movement 🏀 In thes Plyometrics in All Planes of Movement
🏀
In these videos we are combining all planes of movement and are emphasizing your ability to redirect your produced force.
Basketball is inherently an explosive sport and occurs in all planes of movement. From dunking on your opponent, sprinting down the floor, or playing lockdown defense, explosiveness is everywhere in basketball! As a result, to become more explosive and athletic, you need to be training aspects of your mind and body.
Plyometric training improves your body’s ability to produce force more quickly and efficiently.

❗️Groin Strain Early Rehab❗️ 🏀 In the i ❗️Groin Strain Early Rehab❗️
🏀
In the initial stages of a groin strain one should perform RICE (Rest Ice Compression Elevation) for the first 24-48 hours to decrease pain and swelling.
Studies have shown to begin with gentle submaximal isometric adduction contractions pain free in the early phase which help limit scar formation without reinjuring fibers.
It is also suggested to maintain trunk strength by performing core exercise and maintaining flexibility in the non-involved muscles.
🏀
❗️Do Not Stretch adductors in this phase❗️
🏀
Milestone to move onto the next stage is to be able to perform concentric adduction in sideline against gravity pain free.
🏀
1️⃣Isometric adduction with hip flexion
👉🏻Place ball between knees and squeeze which activates adductors
👉🏻Once the ball is squeeze bring hip towards your chest and back to neutral activating hip flexors and core
2️⃣Isometric adduction with knees bent
👉🏻squeeze ball between knees for 10 seconds x 10 reps
3️⃣Isometric adduction with legs straight
👉🏻Squeeze ball between ankles for 10 seconds x 10 reps

🏀
Basketball is inherently an explosive sport. From dunking on your opponent, sprinting down the floor, or playing lockdown defense, explosiveness is everywhere in basketball! As a result, to become more explosive and athletic, you need to be training aspects of your mind and body.
In these videos we are training our explosiveness in the lateral/side-to-side/frontal plane of movement in a variety of ways.
Research has demonstrated that plyometric training has transferred over well to sport by improving one’s jump height, sprint time, and change of direction. This is accomplished by improving your rate of force development, decreasing ground contact time, and optimizing the stretch-shortening cycle. More simply, plyometric training improves your body’s ability to produce force more quickly and efficiently.

⁉️Do You Have Pain Below Your Knee Cap⁉️
.
⁉️Does It Hurt To Jump⁉️
.
You are probably dealing with jumpers knee. Jumpers knee is not tendonitis more like tendinopathy due to the degeneration in the tendon. If it was tendonitis then rest and ice would help it but it doesn’t it.
🏀
Our main goal in jumpers knee rehab is to improve the capacity of the tendon to withstand the constant load it has when playing basketball.
🏀
One of our favorite type of exercises are isometrics. They help decrease pain and also help improve strength. Here are different variations of isometric exercises using @theprehabguys strength bands
🏀
Check out our jumpers knee 8 week program if you are dealing with jumpers knee. The program will allow you to improve the capacity of tendon.

Basketball Plyometrics 🏀 In these exercises, we Basketball Plyometrics
🏀
In these exercises, we are focusing on power production without momentum, or eliminating any counter movement to help develop speed and force.
The reason we are doing this is we need to train our bodies how to produce as much force as possible as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, in basketball there are times when we rebound without the opportunity to perform a countermovement or we need to jump when we are in a quarter squat position (similar to a jump ball situation).
🏀
These exercises demonstrated are just a few examples of how you can incorporate this into your workouts.

Coaching Cues:

🔵Don’t swing your arms beg or drop further into a squat
🔵Jump as quick and as high as you can
🔵Stick the landing
