One of the most important muscle groups to work on after an ankle sprain are the peroneal muscle groups.
The peroneal muscle groups are the muscles located on the outside portion of your leg.
These muscle groups help provide lateral stability to the ankle and are often not trained enough after and ankle sprain.
Here are a couple exercises we like to do following an ankle sprain.

Did you sprain your ankle?
.
The most important things you have to be doing after your sprained ankle is your rehab!
.
The majority of people that sprain their ankle don’t do their rehab which then leads to other injuries down the line or chronic ankle instability.
.
Not only do you have to work on getting your range of motion and strength but also working on low level jumps and bounds to best prepare you for basketball.
Here are two drills we have our athletes work before going back to basketball.

Here is one of our athletes @jjchaikovsky that we are working on his back pain through myofascial release via cupping.
Here we place the cups and have him move through certain movements such as the 3 we demonstrated.
If you are using cups do not just let the cups be placed without having some kind of movement to maximize the effect.
We started off with this then we worked on strengthening!

.
Do you feel that your hip flexors are tight?
.
Do you constantly feel the need to stretch them but they continue being tight?
.
This is the perfect test for you to do, to see if your hip flexors are actually tight.
.
The big thing when doing this test is to ensure you keep your opposite knee to your chest to make sure it keeps your low back locked.
.
If your hip is above the table then that means your hip flexors are truly tight.
If your hip is in line with the table or below that means your hip flexors are not tight.
.
‼️TAG someone that has tight hip flexors‼️

Did you sprain your ankle?
.
One of the most important things you have to be doing is your rehab!
.
If you don’t do your rehab you increase your risk for future ankle sprains and other injuries due to compensations.
.
After you achieved range of motion and strength the next step is different hopping and bounding exercises to make sure your ready to go back to basketball.
Here are two variations of an exercises we like to use to work on different planes and patterns

🏀MCL Tear Rehab🏀 . Early Stages . MCL tears 🏀MCL Tear Rehab🏀
.
Early Stages
.
MCL tears are common with basketball athletes as we have seen several this year in the NBA including Kevin Durant.
.
The main goals of the MCL injury early on is to allow for proper healing which usually includes being in a knee stabilizer to decrease any valgus stress on the knee.
As the MCL is healing then we progress to getting range of motion as soon as possible especially straightening of the knee.
.
Here we have our athlete @ebeks25 working on getting his range of motion back following his MCL tear.
